Second step on the ladder of schooling. Stage at which students apply their acquired academic skills of primary level for learning concepts and subject. At this stage complexity of subject increases gradually class wise and new concepts are introducted and the student learns the basics of fundamentals of various topics in maths, science and social sciences.


The important change is that inspite of learning to read, write or spelling as was in the first stage, now the students are expected  to read and write for learning and improving knowledge. 

At this stage students needs to organise their study patterns develop their study skills and develop independence towards their studies. Controlling of behaviour pattern and approriate emotional responses, coping up with the environment and changes at this early stage of adolescence with balanced peer interation is also expected from the students.
